Session Description:

A key criterion for incentive travel destination selection is safety. However, safety is often linked to perception vs. reality. We’ve assembled a panel of industry professionals from destinations that have experienced reputational damage to share how they’ve combated these challenges.

Bios:

P. Miller.jpgPaul Miller started his career in the service industry at the Royal Household in Buckingham Palace after finishing his studies in hotel and catering management. After four years in Royal service and a brief period of work abroad, he returned to the UK and started his career in the incentive travel industry in 1988 with a London-based Destination Management Company. He is married with three children and enjoys singing songwriting and has recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios with a debut album released in 2018.

Over the years he has been involved with many prestigious incentive and meeting programs in the UK with many distinguished guests and politicians in attendance. He was also involved in the handling of two sponsor programs for the London Olympic Games in 2012. Paul has a broad knowledge of and experience in the incentive industry from small board meetings of blue chip companies to events in excess of 9,000 people.

Paul has been an active member of SITE (Society For Incentive Travel Excellence) since 1999. He was elected to the Great Britain Chapter board in 2003 and served as its President in 2005 and 2006. He was voted SITE Member of the Year in 2006 and was the Chair for the International Conference in 2008 and joined the International Board of Directors in 2010, becoming the association’s global President in 2014.

Paul is currently serving on an advisory board for a DMC global consortium and is Chair of an ethics committee, as well as being involved in academia for the incentive travel industry.  

In 2005, Paul joined the Board of Directors of SPECTRA, a full-service destination management company with offices in London and Edinburgh, created in 1951. It handles business events: incentives, association and corporate meetings, conventions and deluxe special interest group programs.

 

D. Keywood.jpgDaryl Keywood is the Managing Director and CEO at Walthers - Destination Business Solutions Africa, an award-winning company with a strong focus on incentives and conferences. The business is internationally recognized as a leader in corporate social responsibility programs. Daryl has a deep passion for Africa and its people, traveling 3-4 months of each year marketing and accompanying clients within the continent. Daryl is a past Chapter President of Site Southern Africa and currently sits on the Site International Board of Directors.

 

E. Ozden.jpgEda Özden is the Director of Business Development at MEP, a destination business solutions company based in Istanbul, Turkey. Having embraced the “travel bug” early on and embodying the passionate aspirations of the millennial generation, Eda has focused her career on digital and creative mediums for promoting her destination and company. She heads the sales & marketing team of MEP, in charge of all CRM efforts as well as global accounts and brand management. She’s been an ardent supporter of SITE Global, which was instrumental in her joining the industry. Having served as the co-chair of the Young Leaders Program for two years, she is now one of the European Directors on the Global Board. She is also on the Board of World of DMCs, an association of global DMCs, as well as the Board of SITE Turkey Chapter.

 

Freddy I. MullerFreddy I. Muller is a 27 veteran in the hospitality industry, while most of his career he has enjoyed working in the cruise industry; he had the opportunity of working in Hotels, Resorts, and Charter Air. Some might say his careers started when he did his homework in his grandfather’s office at a hotel in Venezuela, but the reality was at Celebrity / Fantasy Cruises in reservations. Within a year he got a taste of the Corporate & Incentive market and has been involved in this market ever since. Currently he is the Vice President of Charter & Incentive Sales at Silversea Cruises.  

Freddy is based in Miami, FL and started his cruise career in 1992.  He immediately learned the excitement of working with corporate, incentive and charter customers and his professional path led him to work with some of the most top rated premium and luxury cruise lines, as well as a resort in the Caribbean.
