They do business with corporate planners, intermediaries and luxury travel agents from the US, Scandinavia, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Spain and Italy.

Site Source chatted with Daan about his position and his recent involvement in Site.

Site Source: What is your current role and responsibilities?

Daan van de Kamp: ITBholland is a family-owned business with 25-30 employees. I manage sales and client relationships for corporate inbound incentive and meetings business. Because I grew up in the Netherlands and speak fluent Dutch, English and French, I lead the sales efforts with corporate planners primarily from North America.

Site: Why did you choose the Travel & Hospitality industry as a profession?

van de Kamp: My mother was a flight attendant so I grew up with travel in my blood. I went to school in Leeuwarden at one of the three official Hotelschools in the Netherlands. Following my schooling, I spent five years in the hospitality business working for great companies like Disneyland Resorts-Paris and Carlton Ambassador. Before joining ITB, I spent five years as a City Marketeer for The Hague Convention Bureau promoting the city of The Hague as an international destination for business travel and events.

Site: What are your career aspirations?

van de Kamp: My education and experience have provided me with a 360° view of the travel industry and I love every aspect of the business. I really enjoy what I am doing now; however in the future I may want to consider a position as a Corporate Planner, with an emphasis on planning events associated with Corporate Social Responsibility.

Site: What or who motivated you to join Site?

van de Kamp: Stephen van Es, Manager of MICE for Rotterdam Marketing, encouraged me to join Site. I got very excited when I learned that Site had chosen Rotterdam for its Global Conference 2014 and knew that I wanted to be part of an organization that was bringing so many incentive industry professionals to the Netherlands.

Site: As a new Site member, what personal and professionals benefits do you hope to gain, specifically from your involvement with the Site Young Leader group?

van de Kamp: This is such a networking business and industry professionals like to do business with people they know. Membership in Site provides a ‘stamp of credibility’ in the business. I am looking forward to connecting with other Young Leaders around the globe to share knowledge and inspire each other. I also hope to serve as a mentor and coach to other young professionals entering the industry.
