Awarded at the discretion of the SITE International Board, the Moira Hearn Memorial Bursary (to be known, simply, as The Moira Fund) provides financial assistance to SITE Members whose businesses experience extreme financial difficulties due to circumstances beyond their control such acts of terrorism, natural disasters, pandemics, collapse of local economy and so on.
The bursary is provided primarily with the view to facilitating the individual’s ongoing membership of SITE and to qualify for the Bursary individuals must have been members of SITE in good standing for a minimum of 2 years. Where the number of bursary applicants exceeds the funds available in a given year, preference will be given to members who have played an active, volunteering role in the association via participation at Chapter Events, attendance at Global Conference and so on.
The Bursary is named in honour of Moira Hearn, deceased, whose membership of SITE was characterised by an uncommon altruism and concern for others. The fund will be formally activated at the start of the next renewals' period.
About Moira Hearn
Moira Hearn was – and still is – for many of us the moral touchstone of professionalism in the world of incentive travel. A deeply empathetic and compassionate person, Moira embodied everything that this fund stands for – warmth, understanding, a helping hand, sharing the burden. A proud Brit, Moira lived and worked for most of her life in Canada, initially with Marriott and then with her own company, Select Group Marketing. She was active in SITE at local chapter level and also as a member of the International Board of Directors.
