SITE Announces New Mid-Level Certificate Program for Incentive Professionals

While there are a number of industry certifications focused on the planning of meetings and events, SITE is the only global organization dedicated to providing training and certification specifically for incentive travel professionals.

As part of our continued commitment to advancing both the incentive travel industry and incentive travel professionals, SITE announces the launch of a new professional certification. Certified Incentive Travel Professional (CITP) is a career-defining designation for mid-senior level professionals working across the niche spectrum of incentive travel. Available in mid-2018, to both SITE and non-SITE members, the CITP program will include an examination as well as an on-line or in-person certification preparation course.

Jennifer Glynn, Managing Partner, Meeting Encore Ltd. serves on the SITE board as vice president education and certification. “Incentive travel programs represent significant investment for businesses around the world. The CITP credential is designed to provide continued assurance and comfort for our client organizations that their programs are being run with the specialized knowledge needed to guarantee success.”

Five years ago the association introduced the Certified Incentive Specialist (CIS) program, to provide planners and suppliers a greater understanding of the fundamentals of the creative and effective utilization of incentive travel programs. Since its inception, nearly 1,300 incentive travel professionals from 47 countries have earned their CIS designation.

In 2016 SITE conducted an extensive job analysis to develop competency-based curriculum specifically for incentive travel professionals, creating a road map for SITE’s future training and certification programs. In April of this year the association debuted the SITE Knowledge Centre, an online learning portal that serves as a repository for training, learning resources and job tools. Available to both members and non-members, the 12 courses of entry- to mid-level content include assessment quizzes, as well as a proof of completion that can be downloaded and used to obtain CE credit.
