SITE India was successful in signing up 10 new members during the Chapter’s first Members Meet held on 1 June at the JW Marriot, Aerocity, New Delhi. The event attracted 55 attendees including members and their guests, as well as trade and corporate community professionals involved in the incentive travel industry. The result was the gathering of a dynamic group of professionals with the potential to become immediate and future members.
“We invited people from different fields of the industry, to introduce SITE to them and bring the India chapter in the limelight. We have 40 members in India, and with more people being aware of the value of this membership, I hope there will be more traction,” commented Anup Nair, SITE India President. As a result of this first Members Meet, the chapter recruited 10 new members – increasing membership by 25%.
The event was focused on highlighting the following :
- The potential of SITE as an international fraternity for achieving ‘business results’
- Reaffirm the mission statement of SITE
- Invite more members through a concerted drive by existing members - 'each one invite one' (non-member)
- Re-focus on events and activities to spread the global activities and message of SITE in the countries it is present in
- On-site and on-line registrations of new members
The evening began with sparkling wine and the 'SITE signature cocktail’, which was specially prepared for the event and outstanding Hors d’Oeuvres served with the compliments of JW Marriott (the General Manager is a SITE member.)
Anup addressed the gathering with a detailed presentation about SITE and shared the Chapter's initiatives for 2018, which include:
- A bi-monthly newsletter
- Regular Members Meet
- A membership drive with an objective to grow SITE India membership to about 100
- Special educational sessions held in conjunction with the Kerala Society and TTG-ITCMA in Bangkok
The presentation was followed by Nitin Sachdeva, Vice-President, Young Leaders, outlining the initiatives taken by the Young Leaders as he interacted with other young leaders about their views and vision for operating incentives with creativity and innovation.
During the event, it was announced that Shoba Mohan, Founder-Partner, RARE India has been appointed as Director of Communication for the SITE India chapter. “When I learned of what SITE does globally, it just seemed like the kind of things we love to do at RARE.
