Launched in 2008 as a response to requests from destination marketing organisations (DMOs), convention & visitors bureaux (CVBs) and destination-based influencers for education and best practice exchange specifically around incentive travel, SITE Executive Summit is heading to Istanbul next month.
Since its inception Executive Summit has grown into an important annual event pivoting around learning and destination immersion during which members of the international board of directors, trustees of the SITE Foundation and specially invited individual SITE members gather at the selected destination for 3 - 5 days.
Often the selected destination is a new and emerging destination - Slovenia (2016), Rwanda (2018) – but established destinations have also been chosen – Dubai (2015), Dublin (2017). The common threads and defining characteristics of Executive Summit are education and destination immersion – formal learning sessions with the local incentive travel community and intensive, immersive destination experiences for the visiting delegation.
The education programme for our Istanbul edition is entitled “Istanbul – Re-igniting the Incentive Flame” and will focus on opportunities and challenges for Istanbul as a global destination. Topics to be covered include: Perceptions and expectations about Incentives Around the World- A Global Perspective; Case Study on a destination that has recovered after challenging times and an examination of the 2019 Incentive Travel Index Results and what it means for Turkey.
Following an in-depth destination experience in Istanbul that includes lunch at Sultanahmet, special visits to the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace, Grand Bazaar Experience and a Gastronomical Experience of Istanbul, many of the SITE leadership will extend to Cappadocia an area of exceptional natural, historical and cultural heritage.
SITE Executive Summit is made possible thanks to the extraordinary help of our partners – Turkish Airlines, the Ritz Carlton Istanbul and Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus.
