For general updates on Covid-19 there are many reliable sources of information besides the World Health Organisation. Many of the major “global” newspapers are producing daily updates and you can access most of them free of charge.
We particularly like the way The Guardian presents the updates but don’t stay too long reading these articles – it’s not good for your mental health.
For those who prefer to listen to the news, the BBC World Service has short pulse-style daily podcasts delivered in impeccable English! Find them here.
When it comes to the Business Events industry, we continue to recommend the Event Industry Council (EIC) portal – this portal aggregates all of the important data as it relates to meetings, incentives and events.
Most governments around the world are now working on financial aid packages for businesses and SMEs suffering the adverse impact of Covid-19. In most cases, when it comes to the MICE supplier community, these packages are administered through the ministries for tourism in the individual countries so be sure to connect with your national tourist board, destination marketing organisation or convention and visitors bureau to evaluate whether there are funds available to help your business.
As an example, here is a link to the supports for MICE businesses now available in the UK. Before you take any action regarding laying off of staff, be sure to check whether there are government supports available to help.
In addition, have a look at our update on how SITE and our EIC partners are successfully representing the voice of Business Events in the US.
