The Site Honors Gala evening celebration, held during the Site International Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, culminated in the association announcing the 2011 recipient of its highest individual honor: Site Member of the Year. This year, the Society bestowed the honor to Pam Spanjer, President, MeetingsPlus and Site Bylaws/Policy Committee Chairperson.

Ms. Spanjer’s unique two-year commitment has allowed Site to make great strides in overall governance and operational structure. A role that is more “behind the scenes,” Ms. Spanjer’s leadership has paved the way for improvements, allowing Site to more nimbly navigate in our business environment.

Her communication skills and dedication to the cause were invaluable when working with the various Site leaders, members and headquarters staff. She always facilitated open conversations to accomplish the committee charge; Ms. Spanjer always remained a steward for Site and the organization’s mission. She joins the prestigious group of industry leaders who have carried the title, Site Member of the Year.

During the Site International Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, the association presented the Kevin Forde Spirit Award to member Kevin Edmunds, West Coast Regional Director, Palace Resorts in recognition of his energy, attitude and leadership. Mr. Edmunds has always been an active Site Young Leader, and as chair he was instrumental in bringing global young professionals together for education and relationship building.

Mr. Edmunds is noted for his infectious “can-do” attitude about anything he sets out to accomplish. A passionate leader for the Site Young Leaders Program, Mr. Edmunds is a true advocate for providing educational opportunities to younger members of the industry. His active participation led to the successful Site Academy for Young Leaders event in July 2011, held in Cancun, Mexico. He continues to be an active member and leader for Site and the motivational events industry.

The Kevin Forde Spirit Award is awarded to a Site member who exemplifies the traits that Kevin Forde was known and respected for: generosity of time and energy to those in the industry who needed help or advice; representation of the motivational experiences industry within a professional role endorsing one’s destination; volunteering with Site and giving back to the Site global community.
