*Update from Site Belgium President Dries Jacobus, via Bruno Vanden Bossche's wife
Bruno is doing much better, and recovering from the ordeal with lots of rest. He was scheduled to return home this past weekend. Many thanks for the thoughts and sympathy.
Dear Fellow Site Members,
It is in shock that we have to inform you on the terrorist attack earlier this week in Ethiopia. One of our fellow members and Africa specialist, Bruno Vanden Bossche of Gondwana DMC's in Brussels witnessed the tragedy. He was dragged out of his tent together with several other European visitors.
Rebels opened fire from point blank range killing 5 people (2 Germans, 2 Hungarians and 1 Austrian). Bruno was hit in the chest and was flown to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
He is no longer in a life-threatening situation and was able to give an interview to Belgian television.
As a result of this incident, Belgian foreign affairs office applies an immediate no travel policy to Ethiopia.
You can read the article as appeared in "De Standaard" in Flemish as well as an article from the BBC in English.
Sincerely,
Dries Jacobus
Site Belgium President 2010-2012
